According to Homer's writings, the wines of Cephalonia were known since the ancient times as making the most appreciable gift, able to hold friendships, create new bounds, dispel misunderstandings and build alliances.

The variety mostly cultivated is Robola and secondarily the white Muscat, Mavrodaphne, Tsaousi, Vostilidi or Goustilidi, Zakynthino and fragrant Moschatella which is the islands exclusivity.

Local Thyme Honey

Thyme honey is really special and rare, and it is ranked among the best honey varieties worldwide. Thyme bushes bloom from mid-May to early summer and they thrive in Kefalonia.

Thyme Honey: Has an antimicrobial activity and prevents the growth of bacteria and other pathogens. Has antiseptic properties, as it contains thymol, which is a phenol with recognized antiseptic properties where it ensures fast healing of wounds and burns. It increases the heart rate, reduces stomach ulcers, and on a general level contributes to the proper functioning of the human body.
